The Aces picked up their 19th win of the season with their 58-45 victory over Mount Vernon on Tuesday. They’ll finish out their season starting with Senior Night on Monday.

MOUNT VERNON, Ind. — Looking to bounce back from a tough loss to Marion in the Rich Herrin Classic, Mount Carmel was gifted a prime opportunity to get back on track — the Wildcats of Mount Vernon (Ind.).

Having already defeated the Wildcats 59-42 in the Carmi-White County Invitational, the Aces appeared to be in great position entering this contest, on the road or not.

As expected, the Aces handled business, defeating the Wildcats 58-45 on Tuesday night to pick up their 19th with of the season.

Mount Carmel (19-9) was in the driver’s seat for just about all of the game, including a double-digit lead for much of the contest.

The trio of Kaleb Applebey, Beau Stipp and Gage Kennard helped ensure the victory, combining for 52 of Mount Carmel’s 58 points.

Their lead would reach as high as 19 at the end of the third quarter (45-26) en route to the victory.

With the victory in hand, Mount Carmel Coach Tyler Buss’ group will be in prime position to eclipse the 20-win mark on the season with a pair of regular season contests remaining.

Their first crack at it will come on Monday, Feb. 17 against Richland County — Mount Carmel’s final home contest of the season and Senior Night for the Aces.

The night will begin with a JV tip-off at 6:15 p.m.
