Mount Carmel’s Dayton Hall was one of three Aces who finished in first place at regionals. Hall, who advanced to the state final last year, looks to be on the same track once again.

MOUNT CARMEL — Seven Aces will be moving on to the Vandalia Sectional after a successful regional weekend for Mount Carmel’s wrestling team.

Unlike last year however, the Aces will not be advancing as a team. Coach Logan Crum knew they’d have a chance, but would face a grueling Regional draw.

The seven who advanced included three first-place finishers in their class, Greg Thomblinson (120), Dayton Hall (132), and Nate Critchfield (170).

Aces Jordan Wood (106), Cade Keepes (113), and Chevvy Wood (152) each finished in second place to advance. Lastly, Orrin Brohm (160) will advance, having finished third individually in the Regional and narrowly making the cut.

Two additional Aces, Mason Rayborn (195) and Elliott Laws (285) finished fourth and will serve as alternates for Sectionals in the event of an injury or such.

The seven Aces will begin their Sectional quest this Friday, Feb. 14, running until Saturday, Feb. 15. Mount Carmel hopes to send several individuals to the State Final once again.
