It has been said that Rotary Corn Day is a Mt. Carmel tradition, and this was quite evident Sunday, July 5, at the Mabel Courter Youth Center, when more than 1,535 people attended the 51st annual Rotary Corn Day, making it one of the best ever in the history of Corn Day.
What a fantastic finale’ to Mt. Carmel’s Fantastic 4th Weekend!
Of course, an event of this magnitude could not be successful and long-lasting without the help of numerous people in the community. The Rotary Club recognizes and thanks the following individuals, organizations, and businesses for their continued help and support of Corn Day: Rotary spouses and families for their time and extraordinary efforts all week and all day on Sunday; the numerous community volunteers who donated their time and worked really hard for the success of Corn Day; the Mt. Carmel Lions Club and the Boy Scouts of America who helped shuck more than 600 dozen ears of corn early Sunday morning; WYNG and WSJD radio stations, The Mount Carmel Register, the Albion Navigator, and WVC TV for promoting Corn Day; the Pit Crew who helped with clean-up; and Wabash Valley Farm Service Company, Performance Plus, Rural King and Gordon Food Company for their continued help and support. Special thanks to Dave Klosterman, Dean Klaus, and the Wabash County Youth Foundation for the outstanding cooperation and support for the success of Rotary Corn Day each year.
And of course, we thank the more than 1,535 individuals who bought tickets and attended the 2015 Rotary Corn Day. The Mt. Carmel Rotary Club truly appreciates your support of this event each year. All proceeds from Corn Day are used to benefit community projects and worldwide humanitarian efforts.
To celebrate another successful Corn Day and to thank everyone for their help and support of the event, the Mr. Carmel Rotary Club invites the community to a free family swim on Friday, July 17, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Mt. Carmel City Swimming Pool. There will also be free refreshments during the evening.
Again, thanks to all who gave their time and labor to ensure the success of the 2015 Rotary Corn Day and thank you Wabash County and area communities for supporting Rotary Corn Day the past 51 years.
Mt. Carmel Rotary Club,
Bill Hudson, President
Dave Miller, Vice-president
