Tilghman Leon Carroll, 78, of Mount Carmel, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab in Mount Carmel.

He was born Thursday, April 7, 1938, in Gibson County, Indiana, the son of Leon F. and Alice Etta (Lashbrook) Carroll. He married Marcia McDonald Sunday, Nov, 3, 1957, in Fort Branch, Indiana. She survives.

Tilghman attended Hope Fellowship Church in Mount Carmel. He retired from Dowell where he worked as a serviceman. He enjoyed being a mechanic and working with family and friends. He loved spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Marcia of 59 years, daughter Carla (Leonard) Jacot of Mount Carmel; grandson, Michael Joseph Goodman; step-grandchildren Season (Tivis) Evans, Vernon (Shannon) Jacot; great-grandchildren Jamye, Emily and Joseph Jacot; sister, Janet Smith of Mount Carmel; George Carroll of Mount Carmel.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers Ralph and William Carroll; and infant son, Eddie Ray Carroll.

Per Tilghman’s wishes, he will be cremated. There will be no service.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Short-Cunningham Funeral Home to help defray Tilghman’s funeral expenses. Contributions can be dropped off or mailed to Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry St., Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
