Charles Dale McKannan, 80, of Patoka, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton. He was born on July 16, 1936, in Gibson County to Cullen and Barbara (Newnum) McKannan.

He was retired from Alcoa after 30 years. He loved hunting, fishing, horses and loved to read. He also served as the family historian.

He is survived by his wife of almost 42 years, Nancy McKannan of Patoka; six children, Kathie (Bob) Merrill, Sandy Carnahan, John (Laura) Hughes, Tony (Mary) McKannan, Charla Lowrey and Cary McKannan; three sisters, Dorothy Anthis, Mary Neal & Sherrell Page; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Wayne and Darrel McKannan, and grandchild Logan Hughes.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017, at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, officiated by Rev. Mike Marsh. Burial will be at the Bates Hill Cemetery in Yankeetown, Indiana. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Colvin Funeral Home.
