Evah Opal Veihman, 95, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation with her loving family at her side.

She was born on July 5, 1924 in Bellmont, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur and Edna (Middleton) Bare. Evah graduated from Bellmont High School in 1941 and worked in various jobs in Chicago and Mt. Carmel. On June 10, 1944 she married Raymond A. Veihman and they enjoyed 71 years of marriage before his death on August 25, 2015. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Evah was a long-time member of Asbury Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and served on many committees. She worked on the farm beside her husband raising animals and growing a beautiful garden. In her younger days, she enjoyed being a 4-H leader of the Ogden Merry Maids for many years. She served on the 4-H Foundation Board at the local fair. For many years, Evah was an election judge for Precinct #8. She was an assistant in the cafeteria at Mt. Carmel High School for several years. Her favorite hobby was feeding and watching hummingbirds. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by daughters Ruth (Robert) Livingston and Marilyn (Jim) Cox of Mt. Carmel, Illinois and son Paul (Goldie) Veihman of Daphne, Alabama. Her grandchildren are Julie (Dwight) Stricklin of Lincoln, Illinois; Carrie (Ryan) Parmenter of Mt. Vernon, Indiana; and Sallie (Charlie) Dolan of Catlin, Illinois. Her great-grandchildren are Jordan (fiancé Kelby Edwards) and Alex Stricklin; Jacob, Ethan and Isaac Parmenter; and Naomi and Alana Dolan. Also, many nieces and nephews survive.

Evah was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers Wilford, Duward, Dale, and Doyle Bare; sisters Edith Corrie, Joan Miles, Arlene Peach, and Shirley Kay Fitzgerald.

A private family funeral service will be held Friday, March 27, 2020. Burial is at Highland Memorial Cemetery
