MOUNT CARMEL — Wabash Area Development Inc., better known as WADI, was announced as a recipient of an Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund Grant.

The grant, which amounts to $21,000, was given to WADI by the Southern Illinois Community Foundation.

Money from the grant will go toward assisting those affected by COVID, which has had an immense impact on Americans financially with reduced hours, stay-at-home orders and more costly restrictions.

Byrum Fager, a representative from the Southern Illinois Community Foundation gave WADI the grant on Tuesday. It was received by Lena M. Hicks, WADI Executive Director.

To date nearly $17 million has been distributed across the state to organizations such as WADI to assist in the fight against COVID.
