MOUNT CARMEL — Dan Kieffer of the Knights of Columbus delivered some special checks on Monday in the final phase of a successful Tootsie Roll Drive.

During the drive, volunteers collect donations in exchange for Tootsie Roll candy. Mayor Joe Judge purchased the first candy at the start of the drive.

Kieffer delivered the first $1,000 check to Superintendent Chuck Bleyer at the Wabash Consolidated School District 348, and the second was accepted by Joseph Griffith on behalf of the Wabash Area Vocational Enterprises.

Kieffer said that $4,300 of funds raised will go to the Eugene C. Kieffer Charitable Organization. The Eugene C Kieffer Charitable Organization is a nonprofit focused on the special olympics.
