MOUNT CARMEL -- The NJCAA Division I Baseball Committee released its second poll of the season on Tuesday and Wabash Valley College saw a bump in their ranking.
Checking in at No. 6 last week, the Warriors ascended to No. 3 in the latest poll, as they sit 14-1 and boasting a 12-game win streak. The Warriors were one of five teams to receive first place votes in the poll and received one first place vote.
Notably, Wabash Valley (14-1) boasts the fewest total losses among the 20 ranked teams with their one loss.
Walters State (14-3) rose to No. 1, a shift from No. 2 in the previous poll. Central Florida (24-3) checked in at No. 2, swapping from the No. 1 spot in last week's poll. Following Wabash Valley College, Florida Southwestern State (22-3) resides at the No. 4 spot, rising five spots from the No. 9 spot in last week's poll. Rounding out the top five, Southern Nevada (21-4). Fellow Great Rivers Athletic Conference school John A. Logan (13-2) checked in at No. 9 in the poll.
The Warriors will look to continue their ascent with a three-game series with Southwestern Illinois College. It begins on Thursday at home, spanning to Saturday at Southwestern for a doubleheader. First pitch on Thursday begins at 3 p.m., Saturday's doubleheader is slated to begin at noon.
