WAYNE CITY -- After more than a full week off, Mount Carmel volleyball jumped back into action on Monday, heading to Wayne City and defeating them in straight sets.
In the first set the Lady Aces proved victorious, winning the close set 25-20 and seizing a 1-0 advantage in the match.
In contrast, the second set wasn't nearly as close, with the Lady Aces handling Wayne City 25-11 and winning the match in straight sets.
Sophomore Allie McPherson led Mt. Carmel in aces (3), kills (8) and blocks (2). Along with McPherson, junior Kassidy Drone led the Lady Aces in assists (15) and digs (6).
Prior to the varsity game the junior varsity Lady Aces also played and won, also in straight sets.
They won the first set 25-18, then seized the second set 25-11 to win the match.
Leading the JV Lady Aces statistically, freshman Grace Adams in aces (6) and blocks (1), freshman Flynn Guard in kills (5), sophomore Rylie Webb in assists (11) and sophomore Miranda Broster in digs (5).
The Lady Aces return home against Boonville on Thursday, starting with the JV at 5:30 p.m. They also play at Vincennes Lincoln on Tuesday (Sept. 11) at 5:30 p.m. as they look to extend their winning streak.
