MOUNT CARMEL -- Following a tough loss to McLeansboro, the Mount Carmel boys golf team successfully bounced back, winning a close match against Fairfield on Tuesday at the Mt. Carmel Municipal Golf Course.

The Aces won in the narrow match by posting a score of 176, just three strokes lower than Fairfield's 179.

Leading the Aces, junior Clayton Halbig who finished the outing with a 38.

Just one stroke behind Halbig was senior Wade Ruth. Ruth posted a 39 in the victory.

Rounding out the Aces were their underclassmen. Sophomore Max Zimmerman who shot for a 49 and freshmen Isaac Kieffer and Andrew Goldman who each shot for a 50 and 51 respectively.

The Aces have a quick turnaround as they travel to face Marion High School today at 1 p.m. They'll look to keep their momentum going from the victory.
