Lady Warriors rise to No. 7 in latest NJCAA Division I women's basketball poll

Wabash Valley College freshman Julie Luna drives for a fast break layup against Volunteer State. Luna and the Lady Warriors have dominated opponents by an average margin of victory of 44.5 points per game.

MOUNT CARMEL, Ill. -- Wabash Valley College's women's basketball rise in the NJCAA Division I women's basketball poll continued on Tuesday, with the Lady Warriors moving to No. 7 in the country.

The top three remained the same from last week, starting with Northwest Florida State (11-0) remaining No. 1, followed by Trinity Valley (11-0) at No. 2 and Tallahassee (15-0) as the No. 3 ranked team.

Previously No. 4 ranked Shelton State (10-2) losing called some havoc from there on -- they fell to No. 12 in the latest poll. Starting with the newly annointed No. 4 team, Chipola (15-0), moving up to No. 5 was a two-loss New Mexico (11-2) team, followed by Hutchinson (12-0) from Kansas at No. 6 and Wabash Valley College at No. 7.

Gulf Coast State (9-1), a team the Lady Warriors defeated in the Vincennes University Classic moved to No. 9. Their lone loss on the season came against WVC.

The Lady Warriors began the season No. 21 and have risen as their dominant campaign ensued. WVC has faced little challenge since their game against Gulf Coast, defeating their opponents by a tune of 44.5 points per game through the first 13 games of the season.
