HARRISBURG -- Mount Carmel's softball team traveled to Harrisburg for a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, pitting them against Woodlawn in the first game and a second game against Harrisburg.
The Lady Aces fell in both games, falling to Woodlawn 8-5 and then losing to Harrisburg 12-2 in the final game of the day.
In game one sophomore Faith Fuller took the mound for Mount Carmel. Fuller pitched seven innings, allowed eight runs, five were earned on 10 hits, while fanning three Lady Cardinals (10-8) in the loss.
Though the Lady Ace hitters had a good day at the plate, it wasn't enough. Sophomore Sierra Hannah led the charge with a three-run home run, providing three of the RBIs on the day. The other two came from Fuller and freshman Olivia Stinson. Hannah finished 2-for-4 with the homer and the three RBIs, Fuller was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, and Stinson was 1-for-3.
Lastly, in the second game it was all Harrisburg. The Lady Bulldogs (18-2) scored 12 runs en route to the dominant five inning victory.
Freshman Kami Pearson faced the high scoring Lady Bulldogs but pitched all five innings. Pearson allowed 12 runs on 12 hits.
The Lady Aces bats were highlighted by Stinson's 2-for-2 second game with a run, freshman Maleah Armstong's perfect 2-for-2 line, Pearson's 1-for-3 performance with an RBI and freshman Grace Adams going 1-for-2 with the other RBI for the Lady Aces.
Mount Carmel (4-5) has now dropped their last three games, though they were all three against very quality opponents. They'll get their first chance to bounce back on Tuesday in a home match at 4:30 p.m. against Grayville.
