BLUFORD, Ill. -- As their season winds down, the Mount Carmel girls basketball team bounced back from their loss on Senior Night with a 61-46 victory over Webber High School on Tuesday night.
It was a tremendous first half for the Lady Aces in a much needed win. Mount Carmel used a 37-point first half to seize a 37-23 lead over the Lady Trojans (3-9) to end the first half.
Sophomores Maya and Madi Smith led the first half effort for Mount Carmel. Maya scored nine points to lead the scoring attack, Madi chipped in seven points, all in the first quarter, to compliment her floor general.
It wasn't as explosive of a scoring half for Mount Carmel in the second half, but it wasn't needed. The Lady Aces outscored Webber 24-23 in the second half to complete the 15-point victory.
Sophomore Rylie Webb scored 10 of her 13 points in the fourth quarter, helping keep the game well out of reach. Senior forward Mollie Dardeen joined Webb in double-digits with 10 points. Madi and Maya Smith each finished with nine points in the well-rounded Lady Ace scoring attack.
Mount Carmel (12-13) will look to carry the momentum from this victory into their next game, at Richland County in Olney on Thursday. Tip-off for the JV game is set for 6:15 p.m. with varsity to follow.
