MOUNT CARMEL -- Having dropped their last three games against quality opponents, Mount Carmel's softball team was in dire need of a big bounce back victory to rejuvenate themselves heading into a tiring stretch. They did just that on Tuesday night.
Hosting Grayville, the Lady Aces dominated from start to finish, defeating Grayville 11-1 in a dominant five inning game on Tuesday night in Mount Carmel.
Freshman pitcher Kami Pearson took the mound for the Lady Aces and threw a gem. Pearson threw a complete game one-hitter, allowing just one run and fanning five batters. Her lone run allowed was unearned.
A plethora of Lady Aces had productive days at the plate, junior Libby Schneider was 2-for-2 with a double, a run and two RBIs, freshman Mackenzie Sisson went 1-for-2 with two runs scored, sophomore Faith Fuller posted a 1-for-2 line with a double and an RBI, sophomore Sierra Hannah went 1-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs, freshman Avary Daum was 1-for-3 with an RBI and scored twice, junior Lexi Ballard reached base all three times with an RBI and a run scored, junior Addie Drone was 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and a run and Stormie Devine had an RBI.
Pearson's dominant outing was a welcome development for the Lady Aces, who had allowed an average of 10 runs a game over the course of their previous three-game losing streak.
