ROBINSON -- Mount Carmel head baseball coach Shea Smith had to be pleased with his team's performance on Tuesday night.
The Aces traveled to Robinson to take on the Maroons, who boasted a 16-1 record entering the game. Aces senior Logan Durham took the mound and didn't disappoint, throwing a two-hit, complete game shutout in their 3-0 victory over the Maroons on Tuesday night.
Complementing Durham's strong outing, the Aces bats provided just enough run support for their senior. Durham contributed an RBI to his own cause, junior Connor Lane went 1-for-3 with an RBI and sophomore Rayce Loudermilk knocked in a run for their three runs of the day. Junior Cade Newkirk walked twice and scored two runs notably.
For the game Durham threw seven innings, allowing just two hits and fanning three Maroon batters in his complete game shutout victory.
Mount Carmel's (6-5) victory snaps an 11-game Robinson win streak and should give the Aces a surplus of confidence with the high quality win. Their next game will come today when the Aces travel to face Lawrenceville at 4:30 p.m.
