Edgar Ellis Fortner, 69, of Mount Carmel, passed away Jan. 17, 2017, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 19, 1947, in Mount Carmel, the son of Cecil Edward and Rosalie (Rhoderick) Isham.

Ed served his country in Vietnam in the U.S. Army. He worked as a cook in various restaurants in the area.

Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Rosalie; brothers, Phillip, Larry, Joe, Steve and Tim Fortner; and sister, Sharon Bouwense.

Preceding him in death are his father, brother Michael Gooch, and sister, Marylin Fortner.

Family and friends may call Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, from noon until 1 p.m. at Hope Fellowship Church, 123 W. Fourth St., with funeral services following immediately at 1 p.m., also at the church. A military service will be conducted at the church.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Short-Cunningham Funeral Home to help defray Edgar’s funeral expenses. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be mailed to Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry St., Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
