ALLENDALE — Rita D. Wirth, 76, of Allendale, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019 at the United Methodist Village-North Campus in Lawrenceville.

She was born March 27, 1942 in Amarillo, Texas, to George Hamilton and his wife Leona “Jackie” (Mills) Hamilton.

On Jan. 13, 1962, Rita married John F. Wirth in Birds. He preceded her in death in 2006.

Rita was a graduate of Lawrenceville High School. She was a devoted homemaker to her family. Rita was a very active member of the Bethel United Methodist Church then the Beulah United Methodist Church. As a member of the United Methodist Women’s Organization, she volunteered for missionary work which she really enjoyed. Rita was a 4-H leader for numerous years and a member of the Lawrence County Home Extension. She enjoyed canning, sewing, quilting, reading, and was a very good cook.

Surviving family includes three daughters, Donna Osmon and husband Rick of St. Francisville, Julie Irvin and husband Randy of Louisville, Kentucky, and Joni Ulrich and husband Brad of Sumner; two sons, Robert Wirth and wife Kim of St. Francisville and Mark Wirth of Mt. Vernon; one sister, Sandra Hamilton Thigpen of Florida; 10 grandchildren: and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Leona “Jackie” Hamilton; her husband John F. Wirth; son John W. Wirth; infant brother George Larry Hamilton; and daughter-in-law Gwen Wirth.

Funeral service for Rita D. Wirth is at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019 at Beulah United Methodist Church of Sumner. Visitation will also be held at the church on Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Burial will take place in Harrison Cemetery in Lancaster. Cunningham Funeral Home of Bridgeport is handling arrangements.
