WEST SALEM — James Harrell Walston, a hard- working man of God, was welcomed into his heavenly home with the Lord saying: “Well done, thy good and faithful servant” on January 2, 2018.

He was greeted in Heaven by his earthly sisters, Bernadine Walston and Imogene Lence and two grandsons, Matt Carrol and Ryan Cunningham.

James was born on January 25, 1926, the son of Russell and Dorothy Walston of Noble.

He served in WWII as a gunner and in the Korean War as a radio operator. James was ordained on July 30, 1961 as a Baptist minister and has served continually at Long Prairie Primitive Baptist church for 57 years.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Nellie, their children: Larry Wayne (Pat) Walston, Diane (Jim) Bolen, Kathy Cunningham, Janet (Ron) Kinkade, Deana (Gary) Marshall, James (Jerri) Walston, two brothers, Ray and Steve Walston, one sister, Carolee VanBlaricum, thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday January 5, 2018 at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem, funeral at at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Greenhill Cemetery, located south of Noble.
