MOUNT CARMEL — A nasty storm in Hamerin County will not stop a group of women from playing their beloved game of bingo in the laugh-riot production of “Bingo: The Winning Musical.”
The long-time friends, including Carolyn Highhouse as Honey, Amanda Andrews as Vern, Chloe Benedict as Patsy and Colette Grigsby as Kokie, arrive late to the M&M Bingo Hall on the most important day of the year — the birthday of bingo.
Manny and Mae, performed by Bill Berry and Shirley Goodman respectively, keep the rounds rolling and the hall in check. Bingo caller Sam, played by Joe Thompson, has his hands full with the ever-flirtatious Honey.
Nicole Bittner graces the Brubeck stage for the first time as Alison, daughter of Bernice, played by Jackie Summers. Alison enters the bingo birthday bash in hopes to remedy the past by befriending the die-hard bingo group.
Other cast members include Breanna Henson, Hollyecho Montgomery, Jerry Fromm, Jim Summers, Kate Summers, Kent Freeland, Kiara Stein, Larry Letson, Nancy Copley and Robin Racster.
Between losing power, flashbacks and the troll doll superstitions, the musical numbers performed will have audiences laughing until they cry.
Audience members will also have an opportunity to win in the classic game, but be warned, Vern’s competitiveness is no joking matter!
“Bingo: The Winning Musical” has something for all ages — romance, humor, wit — and even a brief reference to “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”
Opening night is Thursday, but there are still three more chances to see the fast-moving, charismatic cast in action. Evening shows will be Friday, March 17, and Saturday, March 18, both at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee performance will be offered Sunday, March 19 at 1:30 p.m.
Tickets are $8 and can be reserved by calling 618-263-5124. Patron Passes will be honored, and tickets can be purchased at the door prior to the shows.
